Live broadcasting to AzuraCast lets you stream directly to your station and engage with your audience in real-time. If your station does not require AutoDJ, follow this guide to set up and start live broadcasting.

Step 1: Install and Configure a Live Encoder

To broadcast live, you’ll need a compatible live encoder. Here are some popular free options:

  • Rocket Broadcaster (Windows)
  • BUTT (Broadcast Using This Tool) (Windows, macOS)
  • LadioCast (macOS)

Any software that supports Shoutcast or Icecast connections will work. Download and install your preferred live encoder before proceeding.

Step 2: Disable AutoDJ

To avoid conflicts, ensure AutoDJ is disabled before connecting.

How to Disable AutoDJ

  1. Log in to your AzuraCast panel using your station’s credentials.
  2. Go to your station’s dashboard by clicking Manage under the Station Overview section.
  3. Navigate to AzuraCast > Profile > View Profile.
  4. Find the AutoDJ Service block and click Stop if AutoDJ is running.

This ensures your live stream won’t be interrupted by AutoDJ.

Step 3: Retrieve Your Streaming Connection Details

To connect your encoder, you’ll need your Source Username, Password, Port, and Mount Point.

  1. Navigate to AzuraCast > Profile > View Profile.

  2. Locate the Broadcasting Service block and copy the Username and Password under “Source.”

Find your Station’s Port and Mount Point under the “Service” block. It will look like this:

cast.gossdhosting.com:8000/radio.mp3

In this example:

  • Port: 3555
  • Mount Point: /radio.mp3

Once you have these details, you’re ready to configure your live encoder.

Step 4: Configure Your Live Encoder

  1. Open your live encoder software.

  2. Find the settings section for Server/Connection Details.

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Server/Host/IP: Your AzuraCast server URL (e.g., cast.gossdhosting.com)
    • Port: Your station’s port number from Step 3 (e.g., 8000)
    • Mount Point: Your station’s mount point (e.g., /radio.mp3)
    • Username: source
    • Password: Your source password from Step 3
    • Software Type: Select Shoutcast or Icecast (based on your station’s setup)
  4. Save the configuration.

Step 5: Start Live Broadcasting

Now that your encoder is configured, you’re ready to go live.

  1. Open your encoder software.
  2. Click the "Start Streaming" or "Broadcast" button.
  3. Your live broadcast will now stream directly to your AzuraCast radio station.

Final Notes

  • If you experience connection issues, verify that your port, mount point, and password are correct.
  • Ensure your internet connection is stable for uninterrupted broadcasting.
  • To switch back to AutoDJ, re-enable it in the AzuraCast dashboard.
